ANOMALIES IN AUCTION
Investigation May Be Held (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 26. An investigation “into the anomalies of the auction system” for the disposal of wool will be carried out if a recommendation of the electoral committee, carried at its meeting today, is adopted. The Wool Board and Wool Commission have been asked to consider setting up a committee to hear evidence from interested parties and report back. Mr M. G. Hewitt (Waikato), moving the remit, said a thorough investigation was warranted to satisfy wool growers that their fleece was being sold to the best possible advantage and under the best possible system. He said such an investigation should be done by a body set up by the Wool Board and the Wool Commission, with the right to call and crossexamine witnesses. These submissions could then be brought for consideration.
