AUCKLAND MUSEUM
Appointment Of Preparator Mr L. J. Cappel, artisttechnician in the education section of the Canterbury Museum, has been appointed senior preparator at the Auckland Museum. Mr Cappel came to the Canterbury . Museum from Amsterdam about four years ago and has been responsible for renovating all the “school cases” and building many new ones. These are miniature exhibits on all the natural sciences covered by the education section. They are dainty but rugged so that they can be mounted in small cases and transported readily. Dozens of them are on circuit to rural schools throughout the year. ■Mr Cappel also constructed one of the major new exhibits in the museum itself. This is a diorama of a Moa-Hunter adze cave modelled on one found at Whangamoa, Nelson. It is expected that Mr Cappel will take up his Auckland appointment in November.
