ROUND-UP OF RUGBY
Auckland beat Hawke’s Bay, 11-8. on a rain affected ground at Napier today after leading, 3-0, at half-time. The match featured a welldrilled Auckland three-quarters line, the full-back. M. Herewini. making the extra man, and some brilliant forward drives by Hawke’s Bay. For Auckland, tries were scored by P. Murdoch, D. Connor and B. Keyes; Herewini converted one. A. Small and I. Macßae scored tries for Hawke's Bay and Small converted one.— (P.A.) FORWARD STRENGTH The strength of their big forwards gave North Auckland an 11-3 win over Counties at Papakura today. For North Auckland, tries were scored by D. Panther and M. Bradley, E. Thompson converted one and V Yates kicked a penalty. Counties points came from a penalty goal by P. Worrall. The field was wet and muddy, and the North Auckland forwards controlled the match.— (P.A.)
