ASHBURTON TRUST
Sales, Profit Higher (Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. Increased sales and a higher net profit are recorded in the fifteenth annual report of the Ashburton Licensing Trust, tabled in Parliament this afternoon. The total sales for the year were £348,541, an increase of £23,324 over the previous year, the gains being £21,859 in liquor sales and £1465 in accommodation. The net profit for the year was £24,788. Taxation took £11.591. The bank overdraft and debenture liability at March 31 was £100,948, compared with £106,544 a year earlier. The trust is planning a tavern at Tinwald now the district has been provided with water and sewerage. “Sales from the Tinwald bottle store amply justify its existence, and it is expected a modern tavern with provision for sit-down drinking will be appreciated.”
