Mr J. Acland, of Mount Peel, was re-elected to the Wool Board by the electoral, committee at its annual meeting in Wellington yesterday. Mr J. K. Ludbrook, of Te Kuiti, was elected to the board to replace Mr A. Briscoe Moore, of Whangarei, who has retired.— (P. A.) Mr F. E. Fisher, editor of the “Waikato Times,” will retire on Saturday after 45 years in journalism.—(P.A.) The Rev. H. J. Takens will be instituted as vicar of Roxburgh in Central Otago on September 8. After • gaining the diploma of the Central College of the Anglican Communion in Canterbury, England, he served for three years as vicar of Ross and South Westland. Mr Takens had curacies in the parishes of St Albans, Avonside. and Merivale, and is at present priest-in-charge of St. Luke’s, Christchurch. The Rev. Canon R. J. Witty is to be instituted at St. Luke’s Anglican Church on September 3. The Re/. H. C. Matthews was nominated by the North Canterbury Methodist Synod yesterday for a further year as district chairman. The Rev, H. K. Brown was nominated again as district secretary.
