TREATMENT “BRUTAL”
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 25. A pregnant woman, who had only been married for two months, was kicked in the back and sides after an argument with her husband, Sergeant L. Woodgate told Mr J. R. Drummond, S.M., today. "This was brutal and inhuman treatment of a woman, particularly one carrying a child,” the Magistrate said to William Witana, aged 23, driver. Witana, who pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife, Katherine Mary Witana, last night, was gaoled for two months.
