Rider Out For Six Months
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 25. It is possible that W. T. Day, who was Injured in a race fall at Foxtqn on Saturday, will be unable to ride again for approximately six months. Day fell from Jen Hai during the running of the Ronson Handicap at the Foxton Racing Club’s spring meeting. S. A. Brown, with whose stable Day is most closely associated, said today that the jockey had received a compound fracture of a leg and that doctors have indicated a stay of three months in the Palmerston North Hospital was likely, D. J. Rich Is still a patient in the hospital. His condition is satisfactory.
Eskimo Prince To Start (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SYDNEY, August 25. Provided there is no further rain and the track is not heavy, Eskimo Prince, the current glamour three-year-old of Australian racing, will run in Saturday’s Canterbury Guineas. This was decided after the eolt had worked at Randwick this morning. Originally it had been planned that Eskimo Prince would not start until September 5. Eskimo Prince is now back at outright first favourite for the £20,000 Caulfield Cup.
