ROUGH PLAY
Footballer Stood Down -An Albion under 18 B grade player has been stood down for one playing Saturday for rough play in a match against Christchurch. This decision was taken by a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening. The hearing was held in committee. Approval was given for W. M. Birtwistle, D. J. Graham and D. Young to play for the Barbarians against Auckland on October 3 and for R. M. Wainohu and G. Waterreus to play for the Evergreens against Manawatu on the same date. King Country Backs Weak (N Z. Press Association) TAUMARUNUI, Aug. 25. In a fast and exciting game of Rugby at Taumarunui today, Thames Valley defeated King Country, 10-8. King Country gained more possession from scrums and lineouts but its backs lacked the speed and penetration to win. For Thames Valley, J. B. Maxwell and W. C. Walsh scored a try each, both of which were converted by T. M. Reedy. For King Country. R. Paki scored and converted his try and A. Ingham kicked a penalty goal.
