PRESENT FOR SON

County Refused Permission

•‘The Press" Special Service

AUCKLAND, August 4. A Massey woman had to appeal to the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board before she could give a wedding present to her son. Mrs O. J. Hagan, who owns two acres near Massey, wanted to give her son part of her land to use as a building section when he married.

The Waitemata County Council refused permission on the grounds that it would conflict with council ordinances.

At the appeal hearing, the council contended that, since there was already a subdivision nearby, the gift would lead to ribbon development. The appeal board found in favour of Mrs Hagan, but stipulated that her son must sign a deed of covenant promising not to sell the land for 10 years.
