FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A west to south-west airstream flows over New Zealand with a cold front in this stream moving quickly north-eastwards over the country. Forecast:
Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; showers in the alps; elsewhere partly cloudy, with mild day temperatures. Outlook: cloudy, with scattered showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh winds, northerlies predominating; mainly overcast, with frequent periods of rain; temperatures rather cool. Outlook: similar conditions.
Nelson.—Moderate west to south-west winds, strong at times in exposed northern places; persistent showers in the ranges, otherwise partly cloudy; moderate temperatures. Outlook: unsettled. •
Marlborough.—Fresh north-west winds; partly cloudy; a few isolated showers about the ranges; cloud is expected to increase late in the day, with some showers about the Sounds; temperatures becoming cooler. Outlook: Unsettled. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
