Future Of General Practice
Sir,—ln reply to "Soothing Syrup,” my statement about dentists was meant only to convey that their financial rewards were better. I agree their training is long and demands equal sacrifices. 1 contend, however, that general practitioners are deserving of better financial rewards for their services. Dentists are not generally
called out to a confinement or a heart attack at midnight! It would appear from the recent article on the''British medical services that the general practitioners there are suffering from similar difficulties, perhaps to a greater degree. It would appear that one of the burdens of this system of free medicine is being borne by the wrong shoulders.—Yours, etc., ALSO CONCERNED. August 3, 1963.
