The Australian golfer, Kel Nagle’s 7500 dollar win in the Canadian Open golf championship yesterday pushed his winnings from golf this year to more than 22,000 dollars, United Press International reported. Nagle, aged 43, winner of the 1959 British Open and 1960 Australian Open, stormed home with a four-under-par 67, giving him a two stroke win over the American, Arnold Palmer.
The 7500-dollar purse was the biggest single win for Nagle who is the oldest golfer ever to win the Canadian Open. New. Zealand’s R. J. Charles finished with a disastrous seven-over-par 78, for a total of 297.
