PROTEST BY PARENTS

Pupils Still At Home (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, July 20. The 16 pupils of Matata Maori School, who are being kept home by their parents as a protest against a change in the school transport system, were still away today. The children have not attended school since the South Auckland Education Board last week cut the travelling distance of a taxi which picked the children up. The taxi is being taken to a defined pick-up point, but no children have been there. Mr T. Reweti, the headmaster, said today that Mr J. C. Preston, the Maori schools officer, Department of Education, Auckland, would, meet parents concerned in the dispute in Matata this evening.
