WINNING IN S. VIETNAM
Miller Gives
His View
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, July 20. The Republican Vice-Presi-dential candidate, William E. Miller, said that if his party won the election in November, the United States would adopt a policy to win its guerrilla war in South Vietnam. The New York . congressman was asked on a nationwide television programme whether the election of the Presidential nominee, Senator Barry Goldwater, would mean an extension of the war in Vietnam.
“We should have a policy first,” Mr Miller replied.
He said a Goldwater administration would consult with the joint Chiefs of Staff, the State Department and with the military commanders in the field. “Then we would adopt a policy to win.”
