Air Services
Sir, —In your issue of June 24 you reported that S.P.A.N.Z., which is half overseas-owned, owed the New Zealand Government over £58,000 for moneys lent and for airport dues. The airline says it is going to apply for an Auckland-Wel-lington-Christchurch route licence in competition with N.A.C. Are the public going to put up with the State lending to a half-overseas-owned group which cannot pay what it owes to the people of New Zealand?—Yours, etc.. T. H. BITMEAD. July 14, 1964.
Warrant Officer R. M. Urquhart, who was a public relations and recruiting assistant at the headquarters of the Southern Military District between 1959-61 was recently commissioned. He is now the staff officer of recruiting at Army Headquarters, Wellingtonton. Lieutenant Urquhart was one of the original recruiting non-commissioned officers in the New Zealand Army.
