SENTENCE REDUCED

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 20. David George Doughty, aged 24, h?d a' two-year prison term reduced to six months when he appealed against sentence in -the Supreme Court today. The sentence related .to two charges of arson.

Mr Justice Woodhouse ordered that Doughty be placed on 12 months’ probation after his release' from prison, with the special terms that he undergo psychiatric treatment and act on the advice of a' psychiatrist in conjunction with the probation officer.

Mr J. H. Wallace, Who appeared for Doughty, made, his appeal on the grounds that the sentence was excessive and inappropriate.
