INJURED U.S. SEABEE

Flight Decision Today A decision Will be made today whether the injured American seabee, Mr Bethel Lee McMullen who was brought out of the Antarctic by air on June 27, will be fit to travel to the United States by Super Constellation on Wednesday. Mr McMullen, who is in Christchurch Hospital, suffered a setback on July 11 when he contracted an infection in his chest. His condition improved during the week and was described as fairly satisfactory on Saturday and as satisfactory last evening. Commander W. H. Withrow, base commander at Harewood, said he thought Mr McMullen was “looking better” but any decision on his fitness to travel would rest with his doctors. The Constellation aircraft is due to leave at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. It ■ arrived at Harewood yesterday morning.

Detective Sergeant D. C. Lee, who has been police prosecutor in the Magistrate’s Court for the last six months, has returned to C. 1.8. duties. His place as prosecutor will be taken by Detective Sergeant E. T. Mitten.
