Record £12,900 To Be Won On Golf Circuit

Prize money totalling £12,900 will be at stake in the eight tournaments on this year’s New Zealand professional golf circuit. I his figure is £B5O higher than last year, when the professional circuit was first held, but there is one more tournament than in the last series. 1 he circuit begins in Christchurch on November 19 with the New Zealand open championship.

Top flight overseas players are expected to be tempted, in spite of the fact that 71 per cent of all prize money will be deducted and paid to the Professional Golfers’ Association. A limited number of low handicapped amateurs will be accepted for each sponsored tournament. The winning player in the New Zealand Open, to be held at the Christchurch Golf Club's course, Shirley, will receive £3OO and £9OO will be spread among the minor place getters. This event carries the most prestige but five of the other seven touranments have more prize money at stake. Four tournaments—the Caltex £2OOO, Wiseman’s £2OOO, the Wills Classic £2OOO and
