A Policeman’s Revenge

(Sew Zealand Prese Association)

INVERCARGILL, June 30. When the constable at an Invercargill suburban police station was taken ill with dysentery he had to be isolated. The central station sent another man to relieve him. He got dysentery too. Several of the other constables were stricken and it appeared the whole station might be immobilised. There was a knock at the door of the senior

officer. A rather shaken-

looking constable entered. He said he had an explanation to make, and after a few moments of shuffling blurted out the whole story. He always kept a tin of drinking chocolate in the station, but lately he had noticed it was disappearing too fast to be accounted for by his own consumption.

So he bought another tin and laced it liberally with a good, strong laxative.
