INITIAL SERVICE

T.E.A.L. To America (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 30. For its initial services to North America next year, Tasman Empire Airways will most likely use the recognised route between Auckland and Los Angeles through Fiji and Honolulu.

The general manager, of T.E.A.L. (Mr F. A. Reeves) said today that travel habits were difficult to change and this was the generally accepted route. He was commenting on the new air agreement between the New Zealand and United States Governments. The service with the new DCB jets will be continued to Samoa as a spur service from Fiji and, if subsequent landing rights are obtained, it will be continued on to Tahiti as ip the past Consideration will also be given to running a direct service between Auckland and Los Angeles through Tahiti. New Caledonia was included in the agreement because it was on the route of the old flying-boat service between North America and Australia. It is unlikely to be included in any service at present under consideration. Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., will not have the right to carry any passengers between Honolulu and Los Angeles except those who travelled by the airline to Honolulu and stayed there for a few days. Tasman Empire Airways will, however, have the right to carry any passengers south from Honolulu.
