LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

(1) Letters sent to the Editor tor printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in ink on one side of the paper only. . A legible signature and fu(l address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P.O. box number is not a sufficient address. , (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. (3) The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which, for any reason, is unsuitable for •printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence. (4) Letters must not be of more than 150 words.

Who Pays?—They do—in taxes on their earnings. Topped.—Why not take It up with the association? It is hardly a matter for this column. Puss.—-Seems an inadequate reason. D. Brown.—No space for a discussion of interest-free loans. Eye-Witness.—Our report was the combined result Of the observations of several eyewitnesses. Varian J. Wilson.—No space to repeat the argument. You could write direct to the N.Z.B.C. P. F. Butcher. —Correspondence on apartheid not now open. Concerned.—You may discuss the Budget but not matters now before 'the Arbitration Court. D. Brown.—(a) We are informed a writ has now been Issued. In any case, we would not have permitted discussion while legal action was pending. (b) Not a recent Innovation; it dates from some time- before, the First World War. The purpose is to avoid any possibility of confusion between the text of the editorial and the passage quoted.
