Lord Vestey, aged 23, who is spending a year in New Zealand studying the meat industry, won loud applause when addressing farmers at Westfield today. He said that as a member of the Hawke’s Bay Freezing Workers’ Union he was being paid at the rate of time-and-a-half for addressing a meeting during his lunch hour.
