Rex A Now Assured Of Indoor Basketball Title
Rex A assumed an unbeatable position at the top of the senior women’s indoor basketball competition with an overwhelming victory against Burnham last night. Rangiora A displayed superior form in convincingly beating Rebels A and Brighton held University scoreless for a good win.
In the first few minutes of the game between Rangiora and Rebels both teams scored goal for goal. The zone defence maintained by both teams forced players to attempt long shots and with J. Hudson striking form, Rangiora took a fourpoint lead. Better passing by Rangiora brought it scoring chances and with Hudson shooting brilliantly and good offensive rebounding by J. Hegan and F. Horan giving the team ample possession. Rangiora scored freely in the last few minutes.
Brighton took some time to find the ring with its shots, but was not troubled to beat University easily. The guards. N. Tregonlng and D. Entwistle, gained ftossession repeatedly with good nterceptions to feed the fastbreaking forwards. S. Chamberlain and A. Boelee. University was persltsent in its attempts to guard out the many Brighton shots, but lacked scoring movements itself.
Sound guarding by Burnham kept Rex from scoring freely in

Taylor and V Young netted tome fine goals to put the team well Into the lead. Good guarding by B Taylor kept out a certain shot from Burnham and Rex scored quickly with a long pass down the court. Burnham found It difficult to penetrate the Rex defence and many passes were intercepted by Rex. Quick passing round the keyhole caught Burnham off balance and X. Gaskell and J.
