TWO ARE SAFE
The two insecticides which stand apart on the New Zealand Agricultural Chemicals Manufacturers’ Association’s list as nonhazardous for all practical purposes—derris (rotenone) and pyrethrum—are from nature’s laboratory. Derris comes from. tropical leguminous plants and pyrethrum from the flower heads of a chrysanthemum farmed in Kenya. Pyrethrum today has virtually displaced D.D.T. and other synthetic insecticides from the kitchen aerosol. No restrictions apply to these natural insecticides in farm and horticultural use.
