WESTFIELD PROJECT
Engine .Sheds Begun (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 29. Work started on the ■ last leg of the £1 million project for marshalling yards at Westfield, with the construction of diesel engine sheds. The sheds, costing £170,000, should be ready in about 18 months, according to Mr A. H. Newton, the Railways Department’s district civil engineer. When the sheds are completed they will house nearly all diesels now kept in dilapidated sheds in Auckland.
The Westfield project, which is part of the department’s long-term plan to speed freight in the Auckland area, began in 1958.
