SAVE THE CHILDREN
Sponsorship By Branch Grows An active interest on the part of some Christchurch firm's had helped to increase the sponsorship work in the last year, by the North Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Save the Children Fund, the president (Miss M. G. Havelaar) said in her annual report. Sixty children were being sponsored by one firm alone. Slightly more than 750 children and 60 families were being sponsored in the branch area. The Commonwealth Save the Children Fund was caring for 78.000 children in 15 different countries. The annual Rice Bowl Appeal was held in October and raised £3OOO which was given again to Korea, Greece, Hong Kong and Jordan.
