two of the late tries were scored by the vigorous Canberra winger, D. Grimmond, who was. brought into the New South Wales side as a replacement. He is considered one of the leading candidates for a place in the Wallaby side to tour New Zealand in August. The New South Wales breakaway, G. Davis, showed the form which caused critics to name him last year as the best nlayer of his type in the world He and the prop, L. Austin, easily were, the best of the New South Wales forwards. Grimmond (2), A. Morton and R. Pride scored tries for New South Wales: D. Hughes kicked two penalties and two convers ’ons, and P. Ryan kicked a field goal. J. Collins, L. Lawrence and J. Querassimoff scored tries for Queensland: P. Dawson kicked a penalty goal and a conversion, and D. Clark kicked a conversion.
