Obituary
MRP. A. LUNDY Mr P. A. Lundy, a wellknown North Canterbury dog trialist, died recently in a car accident while attending the New Zealand championship dog trials at Te Anau. He was aged 51. Essentially a man of rural interests, Mr Lundy had a long and varied career in the back country of Canterbury, his home province. He started work as a shepherd and musterer and later had his own farm, Forestdale, near Rangiora. His main interest focused on dogs and horses, and he became well known throughout New Zealand as a • strong and successful competitor at dog trials. He was keenly sought as a judge at club and provincial trials, and this year was appointed to judge at the New Zealand championships. For many years. Mr Lundy was secretary of the Malvern Collie Club and later president of the Oxford club for several years. A former member of the Canterbury Collie Dog Clubs’ Association, he was a council member of the New Zealand association at the time of his death.
Mr Lundy also supported the North .Canterbury Pipe Band and played a prominent part in establishing it in its newly erected premises. He also served on various local bodies, agricultural and pastoral associations and school committees.
As a keen member of the Masonic Order he devoted much time to lodge affairs.
