'THERE can surely be no-one 1 left in any doubt that the 400th birthday of William Shakespeare is being celebrated this year.
A series of five British stamps has been issued for the Shakespeare Festival. Twelve of the British colonies, have also issued a Shakespeare stamp apiece, and Cyprus, setting of most of Othello, has brought out a set of four stamps. Other countries whose connexion with the Bard of Avon is less apparent, but whose 1964 stamp programme includes a Shakespeare issue, are Czechoslovakia, Hungary, East Germany, Rumania, Russia and India.
