Peak Prices For Lamb (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 26. Demand for New Zealand lamb improved on a firm market at Smithfield Market, London, throughout the week, says the market information service of the New Zealand Meat Board. This brought improvements in prices for all grades, except the heavier weights. The main grade 29-361 b increased by |d per lb and was. quoted at the new peak figure of 27d to 27id a lb. There were increased offerings of home-killed lamb. The market closed with a firm undertone.
There were small quantities of New Zealand mutton. The main grade of wethers (49561 b) was quoted at 18jd to 19d per lb and the main grade of ewes (49-561 b at 16|d per lb. There were light supplies •of beef all of which cleared quickly at advanced prices. New Zealand beef was not quoted. Quotations Quotations for New Zealand lamb: — Price Var’n.
