Conductor To Have Holidays
His term as guest conductor of the N.Z.B.C. Symphony Orchestra completed, Mr Eduard Fischer left Christchurch last evening for Sydney on the first stage of his journey to his home in Prague where he will take a well-earned holiday. “All this touring has been strenuous. I have conducted more concerts in the last six. months than I . have in some years,” Mr Fischer said at the airport.
“1 have conducted 40 concerts in Japan before coming to New Zealand and then another 30 in New Zealand. Work it out —nearly a concert every other day. When I get home the first thing I’m going to do is to have a holiday.”
