TRACTOR SAFETY
Institute At Lincoln (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 26. Plans for the agricultural engineering institute at Lincoln College are almost complete. Building will begin soon. The first project to be undertaken by the institute will be on tractor safety. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Talbbys) gave these replies to Mr D. J. Carter (Govt., Raglan) in Parliament today. Mr Carter had asked what progress was being made with the establishment of the machinery testing station at Lincoln, and how it was intended that farm machinery should be safety tested before, being offered to the public. “Applications for the position of professor of agricultural engineering, who will head the institute, close on June 30. The institute should be operating in the development stages by the end of the year,” Mr Taiboys said. “The procedures for ensuring that farm machinery is tested for safety before being offered to the public will be established by the institute as early as possible.”
