Mr A. P. Blair, S.M, was yesterday sworn in as a judge of the Arbitration Court by Mr Justice Macarthur. The ceremony was held in Mr Justice Macarthur’s chambers and attended by the senior magistrate in Christchurch, Mr E. A. Lee, S.M, the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, Mr J. L W. Gerken, and members of Mr Blair’s family.
Mr E. A Flynn, project engineer in charge of construction of Mangere airport, has been appointed district commissioner of works at Wanganui.—(PA.) Mr E. S. Ashton has been appointed a member of the Papanui Domain Board. He replaces Mr T. R. Barter, who has resigned.
Mr K J. Mawson has been appointed to the Plumbers’ Board for a term of three years from July 1. , Mr A H. Foate has been appointed a senior visiting obstetrician and gynaecologist to the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The vacancy was consequent on the death of Dr. A M. Hartnell, who was head of the board’s department of obstetrics and gynaecology. The position of head of the department is not yet filled. A nomination for filling Mr Foate’s former post of junior visiting obstetrician and gynaecologist was made by the board at its meeting on Wednesday, but the nomination has yet to be approved by the Health DepartImenL *
