Wider Harbour Bridge Plan
CSpecial Crspdt. N.Z.P.AJ
LONDON, June 24.
A report on the possibility of widening the Auckland harbour bridge to allow it to carry more traffic is being prepared for the bridge authority by Freeman, Fox and Partners, consulting engineers. It will be sent to Auckland towards the end of July. Mr R. Freeman, the senior partner, said: “I would not say that a technical break-through has been made. “You must remember that the bridge was designed 12 years ago. Since then there have been a number of technical advances, and we are proposing to make the fullest use of them.”
