OLD HOTEL TO CLOSE
(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, June 24. Eighty-five years of slaking the thirsts of countless Gisborne and East Coast residents, and travellers, will end on Saturday for the British Empire Hotel, Gisborne. The owners have obtained an order for closure of the premises. Because of the smallness of the section, New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., considered it was unsuitable for a new hotel, and are seeking to erect a hotel-motel on other property.
