ACCIDENTAL DEATH
Evidence On Lady Mclndoe (N Z PA.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, June 25. A verdict of death by misadventure was recorded at the Brighton inquest today on Adonia Sella, Lady Mclndoe, aged 65, the first wife of the late Sir Archibald Mclndoe, the New Zealand-born plastic surgeon. Lady Mclndoe was found dead in a Brighton hotel room.
Dr. Clifford Riley, pathologist at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, said death was caused by asphyxia due to a barbiturate overdose. An examination revealed an alcohol equivalent of six and a half single whiskies. “The capsule without the alcohol would hot have been fatal,” Dr. Riley said. The Coroner, Mr Ronald Webb, said: “I am satisfied that the barbiturate was taken to Induce sleep."
