The Tariff and Development Board has been requested by the Minister of Customs to inquire into and report to him on certain types of paper and paperboard in accordance with the following order of.reference: ( i) whether a determination should, be made in respect of all or any of the goods covered by the inquiry; (11) if so, the rates of duty which should be applied; (ill) the basis which should be adopted for the issue of import licences, if any, for the goods; (iv) methods of distribution adopted by the manufacturers of the goods and prices charged by them; ( v) whether, from the point of view of practical administration, the description of the goods for which determination has been requested is adequate; (vi) any other matters which the Board may consider relevant. A list of the types of paper and. paperboard covered by the Inquiry, and the tariff items involved, may be obtained on request from the undernamed. 2. For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Monday, October 12, 1964. at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room. First Floor. New Zealand Law Society Building, Waring Taylor street, Wellington. 3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses,” which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the undernamed. 4. Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes, should be lodged with the undernamed not later than Monday, September 28. 1964. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering ’ it. Submissions regarding paper should be made separate from those regarding paperboard.
