Amnesty In Rumania
(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) VIENNA June 17. Rumania yesterday announced pardons for 2500 political prisoners. More pardons are being prepared so that no political prisoners would be left by the twentieth anniversary of the country’s “liberation” in August, 1944. The decree is the latest in a series issued since 1962, when 2304 persons were let off the rest of their sentences for offences against state security.
In 1963, 2983 persons had their sentences remitted and in April this year 2464 persons were pardoned.
