FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A weak cold front over the south of the North Island is slow moving. Anti-cyclones lie over the south-east Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand. , Forecast:

Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast:—Light variable winds; widespread fog at first, with cool temperatures, but clearing to partly cloudy, with milder temperatures in the afternoon. Nelson, Central Marlborough, Buller and Westland.—Light south-east winds predominating; some fog at first; otherwise fine; moderate afternoon temperatures.

Outlook. —All districts: fine in the east; increasing cloud in the west; some showers developing, mainly in Westland.
