TELEVISION ON COAST
“Date Difficult To Indicate’’
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 17.
Because expansion was largely dependent on the increase of power of existing stations, it was not yet possible to indicate, when Westland would get television, said the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Scott) in Parliament today. Television coverage for the West Coast was provided far in the £7,500,000 expansion programme planned to be implemented by 1970, he told Mr P. Blanchfield (Opp., Westland). The cost of television for the West Coast would depend on whether the signal was received from a North Island relay point or over the Southern Alps from Christchurch. In . addition te technical factors, the N.Z.B.C.’s ability to meet the costs involved could also affect the time-table. • ,
