Overcast skies prevailed throughout the day in Christchurch yesterday, and .03 inches of rain fell between midnight and 8 a.m. A moderate south-westerly wind blew during the day. The temperature at Harewood at 6 a.m. was 47deg., rising to 50deg. by midday. The day’s maximum of 51 deg. was reached at 2 p.m., but by 4 p.m. the temperature had dropped again to 49 deg. The maximum temperature at the Botanic Gardens was 51 deg., recorded at 3 p.m.
