To Conduct Exams

Miss Margot Bassett-Smith and Miss Mary Deverson, will arrive in New Zealand from England this week-end to conduct children’s examinations for the Royal Academy of Dancing. Miss Deverson, who includes Canterbury in her itinerary, has been a member of the panel of children’s examiners for a considerable time. Miss Deverson trained at the Cone School of Dancing, London, taught in Northampton and later at the Kathleen Danetree School in Birmingham, eventually taking charge. A scholarship teacher for the R.A.D., she also takes classes in several general education schools. In 1960 she did a tour of Canada, teaching and examining for the academy. Several of her pupils are members of professional ballet companies.
