Macadamia Nut Industry Plans

MELBOURNE, May 29.
Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Ltd., plans to develop a substantial Macadamia nut industry in Queensland. The company’ recently acquired land north of Bundaberg and also near Maleny for this purpose. Planting of the nut orchards will begin this year. However, the project is a long term one, as the trees take many years to come to full bearing and the project is not expected to be economic until this stage is reached. The macadamia nut is a large nut and is more commonly known as the Queensland nut.
