Employment In U.K.

(Special Crrpdt. N.Z.P.A.) • LONDON, May 26. Industrial correspondents, analysing the latest employment figures, say that before long Britain will have more jobs available than men to fill them. With the biggest drop in the number of unemployed since last June —the total is now down to 369,000—this month’s Ministry of Labour figures show that the labour shortage is more pronounced than at any time in the last two-and-three-quarter years. Demand for labour as measured by the number of vacancies is increasing to such an extent that if this continues, vacancies next month will exceed the number out of work.
