False Fire Alarm
A malicious false alarm sent firemen to the United Services Hotel, Cathedral square, last night. Two engines and the turntable ladder were sent to the hotel when a man telephoned that there was a small fire in the kitchen, but it was thought that it could be kept under control.
The telephone call was made about 10.30 p.m. There was no fire at all, and hotel manager (Mr L. Gregory) said that the telephone call had not been made from the hotel.
