IMP'S FIRST YEAR

More than 65,000 Hillman Imps have been produced at the Rootes Group’s new factory at Linwood, near Glasgow, during its first 12 months of operation. Since the new plant was officially opened on May 2, 1963, the labour force has been doubled and production built up to more than 75 per cent of the target output of 3000 units a week. Since the export drive was launched in January of this year, cars have been shipped abroad at a steady rate of 1000 units a week and Imps are now on sale in 73 different countries throughout the world, a total which is continually being expanded.
