John Riordan, wbo has ridden Summer Regent in a number of the gelding’s races, may make the trip from New Zealand to ride him in the Brisbane Cup on June 15. the Sydney “Daily Mirror” reported today. Summer Regent now a hot favourite for the cup on the bookmakers' charts, scored a brilliant win at Doom be r last Saturday. Riordan had the mount when Summer Regent won the W. S. Cox Plate at Moonee Valley just before the] Melbourne Cup last year. He was also the rider in the Melbourne Cup, in which Summer Regent started favourite but finished out of a place. Summer Regent is on the first line of pre-race betting. Conference is now equal third favourite. Tbe Mirror quotes one bookmaker as saying: “Summer Regent is all the rage for the cup. Few punters want to back anything to beat him.”
