OBSERVERS IN VIETNAM
Suggestion By U.N. Assn. ‘ (N.z. Press. Association) WELLINGTON, May 27. “The services of United Nations’ observers would be valuable, now, in determining what forces are crossing which frontiers, and why," said the United Nations Association in a statement today. “We believe there would be a strong resistance throughout New Zealand to any action which might lead to armed conflict between a section of the Asian people and ourselves. “The association applauds the Government’s wisdom in stipulating that the aid we offer to Vietnam shall be for constructive, work in a noncombatant role.” The association expressed confidence that the New Zealand Government would turn to the United Nations should the situation in Vietnam deteriorate.
