Fire In Shop
Fire in the shop of Beckenham Hardware, Ltd., 143 a Colombo street, caused slight damage to a wall yesterday afternoon.
Firemen on two engines from the Sydenham station answered the alarm at 5.54 p.m., and quickly had the fire under control. Smoke caused some damage to goods in the shop. A rubbish fire in the premises of A. R. Guthrey, Ltd., at the corner of Carlyle and Hawdon streets was put out by Sydenham firemen before it caused any damage. The alarm was given at 9.37 a.m.
