N.Z. CYCLING TRIALS
Changes Made In Dates (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 26. The dates for the national Olympic Games cycling trials in July have been changed. This was decided at tonight’s meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association’s council following a protest from the West Coast, North Island, centre. It claimed that the second trial scheduled for July 4 clashed with the national Hope-Gibbons 25-mile teams’ final at levin, and some riders would be eligible for both races. The following will now be the programme: July 4, Hope-Gibbons final, Levin; July 6, first 120-mile trial at Koputoroa, near Levin: July 8, final 120-mile trial at Mangaroa, near Upper Hutt. The association’s nominations will be announced on July 8. Nominations close with the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games Association on July 10.
